The Company

With a proud history of manufacturing in Australia for nearly 40 years, this Australian company is part of a huge global collaboration with European designers and manufacturers with a history going back over 100 years. They are specialists in decorative surfaces products.

You’ll be an integral part of National Sales team and be trained by the experienced Sales Manager who has a strong track record in developing staff to become star performers.

The business has a great bunch of people who help each other out. There are numerous long-term staff on hand to provide support and guidance when needed to help you be successful. There is a strong customer centric focus for the business and supports in place to help you succeed. Part of the induction and training program is spending a week or so at the Head Office manufacturing site seeing how things get done.

They are leaders in innovation and design, supplying products into some of the biggest names in the industry in Australia and around the world. The organisation is expanding and recently put in more production lines here and in their APAC sites.

The business has a dynamic and visionary leader in Australia who is bringing in high performing people to ensure they will stay at the top and continue being the top performing division.


The Role

You’ll be reporting to the well regarded, respected and experienced State Manager, and taking the reins of either the ‘WA North’ or ‘WA South’ territory. It consists of warm and active accounts as well as previous clients who haven’t been nurtured as the business would like.

The WA region has had strong performance and growth in recent years for the business.

The plan is to continue growing the territory so that it can sustain a physical branch rather than using the current 3PL model. This does mean that sometimes you will need to be ‘boots on the ground’ customer support from time to time. You’ll be splitting the territory up with the other WA based Sales team member. This is the potential for progression – build it big, and you could be the Branch Manager.

We are looking for someone who can grow existing accounts also hunt new business both from their own development and the leads that come in. You can expect regional travel once or maybe twice per quarter in line with the other territories.

Let me know if you’re keen on being the road warrior as that could reshape the role if that’s something you really love to do. While you are selling products with a technical nature, there is a very strong technical team for you to lean on.

Your tasks and duties will include:
  • Planning your call cycle and client contact lists by evaluating your territory – leveraging your market knowledge and that within the business, you’ll have access to good data and good people
  • Ensuring you are reaching key influencers and decision makers that will help you build your desk and grow your business
  • Working with your distributors to set sales objectives, train and recommend appropriate tactics for growth as well as keeping them informed of product promotion programs
  • Keeping up to date on current market, product developments and technology in your space and pursuing areas for development and training that will drive your success
  • Using your strong back of house support, such as the Technical Specialists and Customer Support teams, so you can focus more upon getting out in front of your customers

About You

To be successful in this role you will need:
  • Previous experience and demonstrated success managing a territory with a strong level of independence and autonomy, the ability to travel regionally occasionally (once or twice per quarter)
  • A track record of success selling products with technical aspects (these products incorporate things like tailored measurements, colour matching, consideration of adhesives capabilities with materials and different environments) –you don’t need to be the ultimate technical expert, but you need credibility in front of a customer
  • To be a motivated sales professional who builds relationships with the right people and can influence, negotiate and close sales
  • A combination of independence and team collaboration – the business knows that success comes from working together to get results
  • A desire to learn and grow, working with like-minded and motivated people who are supportive and be part of a business where you are empowered to succeed
