Project Manager

Norwest, Sydney | Hybrid | National Travel

Join a global engineering organisation delivering complex industrial infrastructure projects across mining, oil & gas and heavy industry.

Our client is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead end-to-end EPC and turnkey projects within their New Build & Retrofit division. This is a high-accountability role suited to a commercially strong, technically capable PM who thrives in complex, high-risk environments.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will be the single point of accountability for full lifecycle delivery — from design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

Projects typically range from 6–18 months and include large underground mine ventilation systems, retrofit works and shutdown projects across Australia.

You will:

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning

  • Manage EPC contracts including variations, claims and EOTs

  • Control budgets, forecasting and margin performance

  • Drive programme scheduling using MS Project / Primavera

  • Oversee subcontractors and supplier performance

  • Conduct site visits nationally (approx. 15% travel)

  • Manage client expectations and lead key project meetings

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Project Management experience in mining, oil & gas or heavy industrial sectors

  • Demonstrated EPC / turnkey project delivery experience

  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen

  • Experience in construction-phase scheduling and site coordination

  • Financial management and cost forecasting capability

  • Ability to confidently manage stakeholders and drive internal teams

Experience in brownfield shutdowns, remote site works or live plant environments will be highly regarded.

The Opportunity

  • Hybrid working arrangement

  • National exposure

  • Travel, meal and hardship allowances for site work

  • Work on technically complex, high-value projects

  • Structured governance environment with strong operational support

This role suits a firm but fair leader — someone with clear accountability and the ability to deliver results while maintaining strong working relationships.

If you are an experienced EPC Project Manager ready to take ownership of complex mining and industrial projects, we would love to hear from you. Please apply now or send your resume to michelledla@norwestrecruitment.com.au
