This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving finance team in an Assistant Accountant-style role, where mentorship, professional development, and internal progression are ongoing priorities.
My client is looking to bring on an Assistant Accountant in a genuine temp-to-perm opportunity, focusing on month-end processes, reconciliations, and supporting the transactional AP & AR teams as needed - alongside reporting and hands-on involvement in process improvement initiatives.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting with month-end close processes, including journal preparation and posting
- Performing a range of reconciliations, including general ledger, balance sheet, and intercompany accounts
- Daily receipting across multiple entities and bank accounts
- Supporting the finance team in identifying and resolving reconciliation discrepancies
- Supporting statutory accounting functions including BAS, GST, and payroll tax on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Assisting the AP and AR teams when required - particularly with invoice uploads into key customer and supplier portals
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3 + years of experience in a similar, all-rounder Assistant Accountant or Accountant role, including exposure to month-end, reconciliations, BAS, GST, payroll tax, and transactional finance functions
- High attention to detail, with strong initiative and accountability in daily tasks
- Experience with SME systems such as MYOB will be highly regarded
- Strong Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, etc.)
- Exposure to process improvements or system implementations is a plus
