Impress In An Interview

Being prepared for an interview is paramount

Here are some great tips to help you prepare for a job interview.

Before the interview:

Research the company – know what they do and what services they provide

Go over your qualifications for the position

Read over your resume

Research where the company is so you are not late to the interview

Be organised – get there with plenty of time to spare

Sit down and prepare a list of possible questions you might be asked, and think up a range of answers to match

Know your strengths

Your appearance:

Make sure you are wearing a corporate suit and closed in shoes

Minimal jewellery

No heavy perfumes

Never chew gum or smoke just before an interview – this leaves a bad impression

Hair tied back, well groomed

In the interview:

Shake hands with the person interviewing you, smile and maintain eye contact

Sit up straight in the chair – body language makes up 90% of any communication

Maintain good body language; sit up tall in the interview, do not fold arms

If there is break in your resume between roles or anything you think could be of concern, please bring it up and address the issue (so you don't leave any unaddressed possible negativity)

Keep questions to the end of the interview and always ask permission to ask questions before jumping in

Smile – people employ friendly people

Try and relax. answer each question as succinctly as possible

When asked a question, think about your answer before replying don't feel unconfortable about pausing to think of a good answer

Try to avoid using slang words. Keep your English as formal and clean as possible

Thank the interviewer for their time
